Arthur Laurents' book remains as powerful, poignant and timely as ever. The score by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim is widely regarded as one of the best ever written. The world's greatest love story takes to the streets in this landmark Broadway musical that is one of the theatre's finest accomplishments.

Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is transported to modern-day New York City as two young, idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the "American" Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks. Their struggle to survive in a world of hate, violence and prejudice is one of the most innovative, heart-wrenching and relevant musical dramas of our time.

Highlighting the talents of a young ensemble cast, West Side Story has found popularity in schools as well as professional theatres throughout the world. Its exciting, sophisticated score by Bernstein and Sondheim is often considered Broadway's finest, its songs a part of the nation's musical heritage. As originally staged by the legendary Jerome Robbins, the show is an impressive showcase for accomplished dancers (a guide featuring the original choreography is available for rental). And, with a reduced orchestration and transpositions on demand, this masterpiece is easier to mount than ever before!

Concert Selections are original Broadway orchestrations and exciting new symphonic arrangements of select songs for use in concert performances. Concert Selections are the perfect way to give audiences a taste of the musical theatre experience without the sets, props and costumes.

Pricing is for individual songs only. 

​Pricing for Orchestral Suites and other items can be provided on receipt of your Application Form. 

 

Amateur

A$99.50 for 1st five minutes (Base Hire rate) 

A$19.00 per minute thereafter (to a maximum of 40 minutes for Small Rights works)

The minimum Base Hire period is 2 months which is calculated from the date required to the first performance date. 

Extra months are charged at 25% of the hire fee per month or part thereof.  

A 50% discount of the Base Hire fee is available for 2nd and subsequent performances provided the fee is not less than the Base Hire rate (amateur only).

If your order requires immediate processing, a A$44.00 Priority Fee per work is applicable.

How can I see WSS alternate instrumentation?
I'm a musical director trying to see the Alternate Orchestration for West Side Story. Since you revamped your site, I'm unable to see the list of instruments - I can only see the doublings. Is there another way for me to see this? Or can you send them to me?
