James Magruder. In addition to his work as Resident Dramaturg of Center Stage, he has translated or adapted several works for the stage, including Mari vaux's The Triumph of Love, which premiered at Center Stage in 1993, and was subsequently produced by Classic Stage Company in New York, La Jolla Playhouse, and the Cleveland Playhouse. Triumph and his translations of Lesage's Turcaret and Labiche's Eating Crow are included in Three French Comedies, which Yale University Press published in 1996. He holds degrees in French Literature and a doctorate from the Yale School of Drama. When he can, he writes about musical theater for American Theatre Magazine.
