The Power of ONE!

By Cindy Ripley on January 05, 2011

It arrived whether you were ready or not.  The New Year, that is.  If you didn’t have the opportunity to write down 1/1/11, take advantage of 1/11/11 next week. It’s empowering.  Forget those big, impossible-to-keep resolutions. A better way to ring in the new year is with one small, (or large!) thing you can do each month to make your creative vision with musical theatre more inspired, more fulfilling and more fun. I resolve to share one (or more) tips with anyone who asks!  Here are a few to get you started!

• When you need a breather, daydream about one of your favorite shows you have done

• Live one dream (a grant for your program, a new backdrop, after school buses for rehearsals etc.) and brainstorm how to make it happen

• Jot down one challenge that always seems to surface in your program.

• Make one plan that helps you de-stress about that challenge

• Find one person that will listen to and give feedback about your plan

• Take one minute daily and take deep breaths with you AND your kids. Relax the body and mind before forging ahead!

• Reflect about one student that you have worked with whose life was changed by participating in musical theatre

• Take one minute right now and reflect why we musical theatre junkies do what we do.

• Alas, the power of one, Happy New Year!
