Ah..the proverbial wish list!
For many of us it is the time of the year when we gather loose ends, loose props, loose scripts and reflect on the creative endeavors that took your lifeblood this past season! Some of you already have the next production selected; some are in need of serious re-charging before those thoughts gel. As you begin to shift your creative energy, don’t forget the wish list. This is the one that is like writing to Santa Claus, anything and everything you ever wanted. Why would I suggest this especially in our less than stable economic times? Because unless you make known what would be an incredible addition to your musical theater program, it most likely will not happen. Many local organizations, VFW, Moose, Legions etc., have monies allotted in their bylaws for community/student-based event. I can’t tell you how many Parent Teacher groups are solely responsible for student shows! These organizations are proud to say they were responsible for the new spotlight or sound mixer! Grandparents are happy to donate to specific causes when they know their grandchild will be the recipient of its use. Parents many times are associated with business that are thrilled to have contributed to a backdrop that will be used for years. School budgets may or may not supplement your production. Let the community know of your “wish list” in concert programs, informational letters and in conversation after performances. Everybody likes to be Santa. Be ready for him anytime of year!
